When Bertha Sarce Varvil was born on April 30, 1904, in Piedmont, Missouri, her father, Levi, was 30, and her mother, Maudie, was 20. She married Hugh Kissee and they had one daughter together. She then married William Matthew Mcinturff on August 23, 1930, in White, Arkansas. She died on December 3, 1994, in Long Beach, California, at the age of 90, and was buried in Searcy, Arkansas.
