Julia Alma Thrasher Pinkston

Wife of Thomas Jefferson Pinkston
Daughter of Tilman C. & Elizabeth Nance Thrasher

Born February 1843 in Mississippi
Died Between 1900 & September 1905

Married Thomas Jefferson Pinkston January 11, 1862, in Tishomingo County, Mississippi

(Even though some of the inscription appears to be incorrect, this apparently is the grave of Julia Alma Thrasher Pinkston. The rocked-up grave was unmarked for at least 100 years when the cemetery association began an effort to identify unmarked graves. Someone identified this grave as the final resting place of Ben Pinkston’s mother who died in childbirth and her child. Benjamin Azia Pinkston (1874—1943) was the sixth of nine children born to Thomas Jefferson & Julia Alma Thrasher Pinkston. The grave is very close to the grave of Thomas Jefferson Pinkston. With those pieces of information, it becomes apparent that it is Mrs. Pinkston’s grave. She was recorded in the 1900 federal census at age 57 with her husband and 15 year daughter, and records show that T. J. Pinkston married Mrs. Zelda Reed on September 24, 1905. As a result, it becomes obvious that Julia Alma Pinkston died between 1900 and September 24, 1905. It would also appear that she did not die in childbirth; however, it may be that she had had a child die as an infant and was buried beside that child.)
