When Robert Alexander Riner was born on March 5, 1853, in Choctaw, Mississippi, his father, Alexander, was 35 and his mother, Eleanor, was 38. He married Patsy Sarah Smith Dennis on February 3, 1870, in Dent, Missouri. They had ten children in 21 years. He died on August 9, 1926, in Searcy, Arkansas, at the age of 73, and was buried in Walker, Arkansas.

When Patsy Sarah Smith Dennis was born on February 3, 1851, in Tennessee, her father, James, was 32, and her mother, Lucinda, was 35. She married Robert Alexander Riner on February 3, 1870, in Dent, Missouri. They had ten children in 21 years. She died on May 13, 1947, in Holly Grove, Arkansas, at the age of 96.
