FAYETTEVILLE — Edgar Lee Gipson, 72, of Fayetteville died Sept. 23, 1999, at his home.

He was born March 2, 1927, in Hartman to Albert and Mary Elizabeth Riley Gipson. He retired from Kawneer after 17 years and was a barber for 18 years. He was a veteran or the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Artie Earnestine Gipson of the home, to whom he was married 28 years; one daughter, Susan Elizabeth Gipson Maurer of Greenburg, S.C.; one stepson, Garry Dale Phipps of Springdale; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Phillis Carol Phipps Whitlow and Drew of Huntsville; two granddaughters; three step-granddaughters; one step-grandson; two great-grandsons; three sisters, Florence McGeath of Fort Smith, Alvena Graves of Longview, Texas, and Vinnie Maroney of Malvern.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sisco Chapel in Springdale with Paul Woodhouse officiating.

Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Alfred Stamps, Garry Phipps, Todd Baker, Bob Dyke, Allen Ditmore and John Chandler Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be O.C. Mowery, J.D. Snow, Steven Burgess, Jimmy Morris, Henry Stamps and Robert Gipson.

Visitation begins at 2 p.m. today at the funeral hare.

HUNTSVILLE — Artie Earnestine Stamps Phipps Gipson, 81, of Huntsville went home to be with our Lord on Jan. 1, 2019, at 6:20 a.m. She was born on Nov. 5, 1937, to Ernest Eugene and Bessie Faye (Fritts) Stamps in Hindsville, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Edgar L. Gipson; two grandsons, Michael Phipps and Matthew Maeur; one great-grandson, Dakota Burgess; one great-granddaughter, Brianna Phipps; her parents, Ernest and Bessie Stamps; three brothers, Luther, Elton and Jerry Dean; and one sister, Anna Hofarth.

She is survived by one son, Garry D. Phipps of Springdale, Ark.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Phillis C. and Drew Whitlow of Huntsville, Ark., and Susan E. and Jimmie Butts of Kailua, Hawaii; four brothers, J.L., Alfred, Liga and Henry Stamps, all of Springdale, Ark.; one sister, Sue Carol Dozier of Springdale, Ark.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Graveside services will be Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale with Chaplain Chuck Bengston officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.
