When Audrey Verna Byers was born on December 22, 1902, in Alabama, her father, John, was 32, and her mother, Martha, was 24. She married Fonnie Dewey McClure on July 15, 1922, in Union, Arkansas. They had one child during their marriage. She died on May 10, 1978, in Birmingham, Alabama, at the age of 75, and was buried in Searcy, Arkansas.
