Nellie Gordon Hurdle was born on July 28, 1911, in Mississippi. She married Edward M Downs on May 21, 1940, in Memphis, Tennessee. They had one child during their marriage. She died in October 1998 in Searcy, Arkansas, at the age of 87, and was buried there.
