Doris Jean Mitchell Reddin, 80 of El Dorado passed away Friday, February 20, 2015, at St. Vincent Medical Center in Little Rock.
Born June 10, 1934 in Wesson, Arkansas she was the daughter of Milton and Dellie Nash Mitchell. As a young girl she lived with various relatives including the Silvertooth family where she became like sisters with Wanda Silvertooth. She also lived with Aunt Ethel Sullivan.
She started working at the age of 14 as a carhop at Sugar’s Drive-In and moved on to working at the Coffee Shop and the drug store, selling make-up. Near graduation she met the love of her life, Edward Redding, who she married. He joined the Navy and they moved to San Diego and Oakland California, Bremerton and Tacoma Washington, Bossier City, Louisiana and then settled in El Dorado.
She then began working at El Dorado Paper Bag as a bag inspector, day and night, IDX operator, and also was employed at Chick-a-Dilly.
She was a very hard worker but always made time for her three children, whom she loved dearly through the good and bad.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Edward Reddin; and sons, Bruce and Mike Reddin.
Her survivors include a daughter, Pam Reddin McVay; and surviving grandchildren, Justin McVay and Jenifer McVay. She was blessed with a great-grandson, Jay Camell five months ago. She is also survived by her best friend and gambling buddy, Margaret Brantley of Junction City.
Doris was such a beautiful woman inside and out and always had kind words for everyone around her. She was very loved by everyone she ran across. She was always a strong wonderful woman even until the very end and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 24, 2015, in Young’s Chapel with Rev. Steve Pelz officiating. Interment will follow in Earnest Cemetery near Tinsman under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday evening at Young’s.
