Eunice Lovelace Platt died Thursday, May 30, 2013. She was born to Thomas and Sudie Lovelace August 07, 1921 in Hallsville, Texas.
Preceding her in death is her husband, Lloyd Milton; her parents; her four brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Sebourn of Cape Canaveral, Florida; two granddaughters, Jackie Fitch of Madison, Alabama and Jennifer Cain of White Lakes Michigan; great grandsons, Clayton and Blake Fitch of Madison, Alabama and Ronald Cain of White Lakes, Michigan; great granddaughter, Victoria Cain of White Lakes, Michigan; and great great granddaughter, Aubree Fitch of Madison, Alabama.
After graduating from Marshall Texas Schools she worked for Sears Roebuck ten years in Dallas, Texas, and eight years as tax collector for schools at Karnack, Texas. She moved to Camden in 1967. She worked as the first female manager of the Camden Chamber of Commerce for fourteen years. She served as the first female manager of South Arkansas Development, first female President of Arkansas Chamber of Commerce Executives, first female to be appointed by governors Frank White and Bill Clinton as Commissoner of Arkansas Waterways member where she served nine years. She succeded H. K. Thatcher as Director and CEO of Ouachita River Valley Association until retirement in 1997. She was also an inventor of a sports article which she gave to Ark. Ind. Development Commission. She was a member of the Church of Christ since age fourteen. Eunice was known as “Mrs. Fix It.” She loved to do repair work of all kinds for friends. She was a Texan by birth, Arkansas by choice.
Services will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday, June 05, 2013 at Proctor Funeral Home with Ministers Johnny Hobbie and Dwayne Seribner officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Wednesday before the service. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
