Annie Norvelle Galbraith Walker, 95 years of age, departed this life on Friday, September 11th, 2009 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

Norvelle was born on November 27th, 1913 in Union County, Louisiana, daughter of Frank Emmons Galbraith and Lydia Euphemia Buie Galbraith. She grew up attending the Presbyterian Church in Junction City, Arkansas. After high school she attended Magnolia Agricultural & Mechanical College where she studied home economics and elementary education. It was there that Norvelle met her husband, William Therman (W.T.) Walker, they were married on January 3rd, 1936.

While Therman finished his degree in chemical engineering at the University of Arkansas, Norvelle taught first and second graders for five years in Junction City, Arkansas in 1941, she with her husband and baby daughter Lydia moved to Pana, Illinois and then on to Somerset, Kentucky where her second child, W.T. Jr., was born. There Norvelle and Therman joined the First Presbyterian Church where both were loyal and contributing members.

Norvelle's life revolved around her family and her church. She was fiercely devoted to her husband, children, and relatives. She was an excellent cook, especially famous for her rolls and pies. She was generous with her kitchen's bounty. Her neighbors and friends enjoying her generosity often. Her excellent sense of aesthetics was seen in the way she dressed and how her home was decorated.

Norvelle was bright, discerning, and articulate with a fine sense of humor. She was also an avid reader and a lifelong supporter of education.

Norvelle was survived by one daughter, Lydia A. Walker of Kansas City, MO; a grandson William Charles Walker (Elizabeth) of Winchester, KY; a nephew who was like a son, Ray Galbraith of Texas City, TX; a beloved sister-in-law, Melissa Davies of Camden, AR; a niece JoAnn Galbraith Smith of El Dorado, AR; a niece Maxine Galbraith Mason of Junction City, AR; a cousin, Marion Fairly Husky of Junction City, AR; a cousin Janice Fairly Cameron of Junction City, AR; a niece Peggy Walker Ayers of Bryan, TX; a nephew Donald Walker of Benton, AR; a nephew, Jim Walker of Branson, MO; a nephew Carl Stover Jr. of Huntsville, AL; a nephew Mike Walker of Parkerfield, KS; a niece Sue Walker Weaver of Camden, AR; a nephew Tom Walker of Robeline, LA; a niece Rita Walker McClure of Little Rock, AR; a nephew Gary Walker of Chidester, AR; and a niece Betty Purifoy McMichael of Norman, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Therman Walker; a son, William Therman Walker, Jr., and his wife Teri Greene Walker; three brothers, Herbert, Ray, and Neill Galbraith; a nephew Bill Stover; and a niece, Marion Galbraith Mitcham.

Visitations were held at the Somerset Undertaking & Crematory on Monday, September 14th, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Her funeral followed at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Somerset Undertaking & Crematory with Rev. Alan Brimer officiating.

Visitations were held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17th, 2009 at the Proctor Funeral Home and Memorial Park Cemetery in Camden, Arkansas with graveside services held at 1:00 p.m.
