September 11, 1915 - April 23, 2010
Gertrude Young had a lifelong journey woven into a rich tapestry of Church, Community and Service which was the essence and soul of Gertrude (Goodwin) Young’s life. Born in Snowhill, Louisiana September 11, 1915, to the late Hugh and Georgia Goodwin, Gertrude’s journey ended quietly and peacefully April 23, 2010 as she slept.
She joined Zion Hill Baptist Church, Camden, at an early age, was a lifetime member and she became the Congregation’s eldest member. Gertrude served in numerous capacities, Choir, Secretary, Kitchen Committee and Missionary, affectionately touching the lives of many.
She formed a Sewing Circle that met monthly and volunteered her time in the Nursing Homes. Her love of flowers and gardening was always on display in her picturesque yard, flower gardens, and plants that dotted her porch and throughout her house, with begonias being one of her favorites.
Gertrude leaves behind to cherish memories of her and honor her legacy, her Daughter: Mrs. Wallace R. (Walker) Nash, Camden Arkansas. Grandchildren: Mrs. LaVern Bailey, Duncanville, TX, Mr. Joseph Nash Jr., Little Rock, AR, Mr. William Nash Sr., Stafford, VA, Mrs. Evelyn Pierce and Mrs. DeLois Davis, Camden AR.
