ROGERS — Ernestine Vinson Scott, 86, of Rogers passed away Dec. 10, 2008, at her home. She was born in Rogers on Oct. 29, 1922, to Ernest Vinson and Marrietta McGuire Vinson. She graduated from Rogers High School and the University of Arkansas. She worked as a dietitian for injured servicemen at Fitzsimmons Hospital in Colorado during World War II. She married Elmo Scott in 1946. Ernestine was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Rogers. She worked for many years to promote downtown Rogers where she managed Vinson Square and other buildings. Ernestine was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and enjoyed playing bridge. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo; a daughter, Leslie Anne Scott; and a sister, Lorene Stephens.
Ernestine is survived by a son, Joe Scott and wife Marina of Rogers; two daughters, Martha Cox and husband Tim of Rogers, Mary Still and husband Robin of Miami, Okla.; grandchildren, Jeremy Cox and wife Paula of Rogers, Shane Cox of Rogers, Ryan Cox of Portland, Ore., Kody Still of Miami, Okla., Catherine Scott of Houston, Texas, Brook Still and wife Dana of Miami, Okla.; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church of Rogers with the Rev. Sandi Wanasek officiating. There will be no visitation.
Pallbearers will be Tim Cox, Robin Still, Jeremy Cox, Shane Cox, Ryan Cox and Kody Still.
Interment will be at the Rogers Cemetery immediately following services.
