When Sessil J Edwards was born on January 2, 1902, in Arkansas, her father, John, was 32, and her mother, Bertha, was 27. She married Rudy Butts on April 21, 1918, in her hometown. They had seven children in 19 years. She died on September 19, 1973, at the age of 71, and was buried in West Point, Arkansas.

They had seven children in 19 years. He died on November 16, 1969, in Searcy, Arkansas, at the age of 75, and was buried in West Point, Arkansas.
