Rae was...An antique hunter with champagne tastes and a Maxwell House coffee budget...cream, no sugar please. A gifted seamstress who could craft red carpet-worthy Barbie doll clothes from velvet scraps and imagination. A passionate gardener who braked for butterflies, rescued irises by the roadside, and taught her children how to watch everyday beauty unfolding in a sunset, a flower's bloom, a starlit night, or a Luna moth emerging from its cocoon.

Rae was...A woman blessed to have found both her true love at first sight and her soul mate for a lifetime in the man she called husband for more than fifty years. An avid genealogist and historian who loved traveling the country and the internet engaged in the detective work of uncovering family roots...and a painter, and birder, and hummingbird herder. Her lifelong generosity of spirit in tending to those she saw in need was matched by her ability to turn strangers into friends wherever she traveled.

Rae was...An unquenchable reader who had a love of books, good conversation, and new knowledge that infused the lives of her husband, children, and friends...and who believed a book wasn't properly broken-in until it sported at least one coffee stain.

And Rae was...A women who knew how to transform a missed street turn into an adventure, a piece of plain buttered bread into a fairy sandwich with a light dusting of sugar to make it sparkle, and a life into a lifetime of rich experiences.
