Henry Thurl Craig, 87, of Mountain View, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Stone County Medical Center. Thurl was born on October 5, 1931 in Blytheville, Arkansas to the late James W. and Ora Stella (Gilbert) Craig. Thurl was of the Baptist faith and worked as a factory and mill worker as well as a farmer. Thurl will be greatly missed by all of his loving family and friends.
Thurl is survived by one daughter, Mary De Urioste; one son, Larry Craig; one brother, Kenneth Craig; one sister, Geraldine Church; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and special friend, Vitha Ott; along with many extended family and friends.
Thurl was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Ora Stella (Gilbert) Craig; two sons, Don and Steve Craig; four brothers, Charlie Lee, James, WJ, and Ronald Craig and one sister, Joyce Hester.
Thurl was a quiet and simple man. Although he was a man of few words, his shy little half-grin and the twinkle in his blue eyes could say so much more than words, but you had to pay attention to catch it. Once a mill worker, a farmer, factory worker, a fisherman and a hunter. He liked biscuits and gravy, catfish and his potatoes fried just right. A good piece of cornbread lathered up in butter was rarely turned away. He loved his four children and walked the journey of burying two sons. He deeply loved his closest, dearest friend on this earth and he loved his whole family.
Visitation is Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Roller Coffman Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas from 10:00 11:00 AM. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 AM with Brother Kenneth Craig officiating. Interment is at Fredonia Cemetery in Mountain View, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are William Stroud, Jose De Urioste, Ronnie Craig, Rickey Turner, Lonnie Turner, and Allen Wroblewski. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Wayne Church and Gerald Church.
Roller Coffman Crouch Funeral Home in Mountain View, Arkansas is in charge of the arrangements.
