When Ann "Annie" Elizabeth Howard was born on April 23, 1867, in Weakley, Tennessee, her father, Wesley, was 20, and her mother, Sarah, was 14. She married F Rubel Simmons and they had one son together. She then married James Henry "Mann" McWhirter and they had three children together. She also had one daughter from another relationship. She died on November 13, 1906, in Lepanto, Arkansas, at the age of 39, and was buried there.

When James Henry "Mann" McWhirter was born on January 18, 1866, in Tennessee, his father, Robert, was 27 and his mother, Sarah, was 21. He married Ann "Annie" Elizabeth Howard on February 28, 1888, in Craighead, Arkansas. They had three children during their marriage. He died on February 18, 1947, in Lepanto, Arkansas, at the age of 81, and was buried there.
