Mary Grace Brown Sanders, age 85, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Thursday, August 9, 2018, at her home. She was born July 9, 1933, in Magnolia, Arkansas.
Mrs. Sanders was a rancher and a member of the De Queen Church of Christ. She enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. She was also a former barrel racer and horse woman and engaged in quilting and knitting. Mrs. Sanders was taught to crochet by a French lady while stationed in France with her husband. Some of her other activities were leather tooling and gardening. She liked to beat Walt in producing the first tomato of the season from her tomato plants.
Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her parents, Pete H. and Myrtie Druscilla Brown and her first husband, Ted Powell.
She is survived by her husband, Walter M. Sanders; a daughter, Wendy Clay and husband Ronnie of De Queen; a son, Chris Powell and wife Vonne of Ft. Worth, Texas; two step-sons, Monty Sanders and wife Rosa of Yuma, Arizona and Matt Sanders of Stillwater, Oklahoma; a step- daughter, Andrea Stafford and husband Clifford of Horatio, Arkansas; five grandsons, Tim Clay and wife Julia, Ted Clay and wife Chrysten, Wade Powell and wife Lena, Avery Powell and wife Jamie, and Cleve Powell and wife Krista; two step-grandsons, Hunter Sanders and Conner Stafford; two step-granddaughters, Katherine and Kaitlyn Stafford; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Sanders will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 12, 2018, in Redmen Cemetery with Bobby Tatum and Tony Stowers officiating.
