PLEASANT PLAINS — Lila Mae Hays, 81, of Pleasant Plains died Monday, June 11, 2012, in a Little Rock hospital.
Born July 30, 1930, in Pleasant Plains, she was the daughter of Leonard E. and Nellie L. Owens Griffis. She was of the Landmark Missionary Baptist faith and was a member of Flippo Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her yard and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Joey D. Hays of Pleasant Plains and Mark A. Hays of Beebe; a daughter, Donna Hays Miller-Stacy of Sherwood; a brother, Shelby G. Griffis; five grandchildren, Alisha Miller Dunlap and Cory Miller, both of Sherwood, Matthew Hays of Pleasant Plains, Ben Hays of Dakota Dunes, S.D., and Erin Hays of Beebe; and four great-grandchildren, Cassadee Dunlap, Cambree Allen, Chanlee Dunlap and Piper Hays.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus D. Hays; her parents; three brothers, Manuel L. Griffis, Vernon J. Griffis and Bonnie Griffis; and a sister, Mina M. Griffis Reed.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Flippo Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains with Joe Helms officiating. Burial will be in McMullin Cemetery at Pleasant Plains.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Hays, Ben Hays, Cory Miller, Robert Beel, Phillip Lamb and Bryson Wood.
Honorary pallbearers are Calvin Perry, Bill Miller and the members of Flippo Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Flippo Chapel Clovis Mission Property Fund or McMullin Cemetery Fund.
