Woodman (aka Woodman of the World) Cemetery
Woodruff County,
Arkansas

Oct 23, 1954 - Dec 7, 2007

Suzanne (Matlock) Atkinson, age 53, of Guin, Alabama, former resident of Woodruff County, died Friday, December 7, 2007 at her home in Guin. She was born October 23, 1954 in Gary, Indiana to Lewis and Eula Sanders Matlock.

Suzanne grew up in the Church of Christ and attended school in Augusta. She had worked as a waitress for many years but most recently was a homemaker. She always took great pride in cooking and tending to her home even in her declining health. Suzanne had a love for everyone around her; she never met a stranger and was truly a person that would give the shirt off her back to help a friend. She loved the simpler things in life. She would often sit at her dining room table with a good cup of coffee, and watch the birds enjoy the feeders in her back yard. During her visits to Arkansas, she could always be found on the bank of her son's pond fishing. Her dogs and bragging about her grandchildren were among many other things she enjoyed.
Seven years ago, she met the man who would become her husband. As they spent more time together and grew closer, they realized they were meant for each other. On November 5, 2006, Suzanne married Donney Atkinson and he cared for her every need until Friday. In addition to her husband, Donney, Suzanne is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Amy Hyatt of Bald Knob; father and step-mother, Lewis and Grace Matlock of Guin, Alabama; brother, Kenneth Matlock also of Guin; her grandchildren, Peyton and Meredith Hyatt of Bald Knob; two half-sisters, Michele Weaver of Michigan City, Indiana and Sheree Matlock of Park Ridge, Illinois; step-brother, Larry Scherp of Hammond, Indiana; step-son, Stephen Atkinson of Double Springs, Alabama; step-daughter, Angel Mujica of Hackelburg, Alabama; three step-grandchildren, Kaylee, Mya
and Josie as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Her mother Eula Matlock preceded her in death.
