Obituary:
Arvene Atkinson, 88 of Magnolia, Arkansas died Thursday, October 25, 2012 at her home in Magnolia. She was born September 9, 1924 in Cumming, Georgia to the late Millard Almon and Hattie Ann (Whitmire) Cook.
Arvene was a member of the Fortified Hills Baptist Church in Smyrna, Georgia and was formerly employed with Southern Belle Telephone. She was a historian and very much enjoyed researching genealogy and civil war history. She was a loving devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her son Steve Atkinson and wife Sondra of Waldo; grandsons Dane Atkinson and wife Alyssa of Smackover and Michael Atkinson of Magnolia; granddaughter Megan Morrison of Waldo; and great grandchildren Loralie Atkinson and Dameon Galbraith of Smackover.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28th at Lewis Chapel with Bro. Steven McAbee officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Keith Gairich, Derol Mayo, Jonathan Morgan, Reini Harlon, Chad Harlon, and Corbin Harlon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Compassions Foundation, P.O. Box 1734, Magnolia, AR 71754.
