Gladys passed peacefully in her 90th year at her home in Austin, Texas on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.
She is survived by her two sisters, Alice Robinson of Bonham, Texas, Amy Caroline Griffith of Orange Texas and her brother Vernon Mosley of Longview Texas. Also two sons, Bill Nelson of Texarkana, Arkansas, and his daughter Sarah and her two daughters, Brooklyn and Mackinsie of Round Rock, Texas, and David Nelson of College Station and his son Dane of Savannah, Georgia, and daughter Danna of Austin, Texas.
Rev. Peterson served for the Southern Baptist Foreign Missions as a missionary to Japan from 1950 to 1963. She later served and was ordained by the American Baptist association and served as executive director of their foreign missions. She worked in Myanmar, India and Africa. She lived a life of service to all and will be missed by many.
She will be interred next to her husband Loyce Nelson who predeceased her in 1963 at a family eulogy service in Memorial Gardens in Texarkana Arkansas at 2pm Saturday December 31st. Her church family will celebrate her life at a memorial service January 11th at 1pm at University Baptist Church in Austin.
