Loyd was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jessie Bryant.
Loyd is survived by his wife of 41 years, Donetta Dixon Samuels; five children: Mike (Jennifer) Samuels, Susan (Dean) Miller, David Dixon, Tim Dixon, Siloam Springs, Ark., and Marty (Jennifer Rollans) Samuels of Russellville, Ark. He worked as a barber at Palace Barber Shop in Springdale and City Barber Shop, Siloam, and Simmons Foods, as a courier for 29 years. Loyd loved fishing until he lost most of his eyesight several years ago.
Loyd has been a faithful member of Sager Creek Community Church, where he served on the hospitality committee for several years. He loved cooking meals for his family and friends, preparing dinners for new babies, funerals and people with illness. This has come back to bless him with so many meals being brought in these past weeks.
The family would like to express their thanks to the four nieces who have been such a blessing with Loyd's caregiving these past several weeks: Regina Mitchell, Rhenda Bruns, JoLynn Boatright and Wanda Bailey.
A Celebration service will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Sager Creek Community Church on Cheri Whitlock with Pastor Jim Henderson officiating.
