Edna Bell “Evelyn” Evlien Nichols Swift, 86, of Walnut Ridge, Ark., passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at the Lawrence Hall Nursing Home in Walnut Ridge. Edna was born on Friday, June 24, 1932, in Gideon, Mo., to Arvil and Edna Grimes Nichols.
Edna was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, greatgrandmother, great-greatgrandmother, and friend. She was of the Baptist faith.
Edna is preceded in death by her parents, Arvil and Edna Grimes Nichols; sons, Hervil and Emanuel Swift; granddaughter, Cheryl Lynn Swift; six brothers; two sisters.
Edna is survived by sons, Elbert (Joy) Swift of Pocahontas, and Orvis (Gail) Swift of Hoxie; daughters, Cloyis (John) Daughhetee of Walnut Ridge, Ella Dean (Joe) Gonzales of Parker, Ariz., and Amelia (Terry) Rogers of Paragould; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mona (Tom) Usher of Sarcoxie, Mo.; brother, Peter Nichols of West Fork; several nieces and nephews.
All services were held in the chapel of the Fears Family Funeral Home in Pocahontas. Visitation was held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Edna’s funeral service began at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 28, 2018; with Jerald Dean officiating. Burial followed in the Jones Ridge Cemetery in Delaplaine.
Honored to serve as pallbearers were Eddie Swift, Eric Swift, Kenny Smith, Keith Smith, Eli Smith, and Levi Smith.
The family respectfully designated Mark Rogers as an honorary pallbearer.
