Ira Ellis "Junior" Pirtle. age 91, reached his home in Heaven on May 9, 2011 in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was born on June 6, 1919 in Moro Bay, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his father, Ira Ellis Pirtle, his mother Gordie Elizabeth Munford Pirtle and a sister Pearl Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Catherine Hoyle Pirtle, along with 9 nieces and 5 nephews. Junior is also survived his God daughter Karen Hickman Jones of Dallas, Texas and her mother, Linda Williams Sweeney of Moro Bay. Junior's special friendship with the Hickman and Williams families was a blessing to Junior's life as well as theirs. Junior lived his entire life at Moro Bay. He was a graduate of Hermitage High School and a retired employee of the Arkansas Forestry Commission with 28 years of service. In his early years, he worked in the timber business and he was a farmer all of his life. Junior was an avid deer hunter and continued to hunt until just a few years ago. He was a member of the Moro Bay Baptist Church. Junior and Catherine were never blessed with children of their own but were instrumental in the upbringing of many young people in the Moro Bay area and surrounding communities. He will be remembered by his many friends for his caring nature, generosity, and wonderful sense of humor. Funeral services were 4:00pm Thursday, May 12, at Frazer's Chapel with Rev. Wayman Mann and Rev. Joe McClellan officiating. Linda Barrett was organist and soloist was Ricky Vaughn. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery at Jersey, AR. by Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren. Active pallbearers were Sonny Bethea, Ronnie Bethea, Guy Hickman, Joe Hickman, John Hickman and Mark Hickman.
