MAYS, John - {from Cherokee City} John Mays, an old and esteemed citizen, died at his home north of town Saturday at 10 a.m. after a long and painful illness, aged 76 years and two days. The deceased came from Illinois 47 years ago and purchased the same land on which he died. He leaves a wife, three daughters and one son. The burial was at Dickson cemetery Sunday afternoon.
