wife of James C Mays
The 1850 census shows 3 of their children with the name Coots, so it appears that Coots is not Catherine's maiden name but that she was first married to a Coots and then to James Mays
Thomas 1828 - 1864
There is a Thomas Mays who died 12 Dec 1864 in a regimental hospital. He was a Corporal in Company K 8th H A Regiment. I don't know if it is the same Thomas.
