Mary Kesl (Hayes) Bussell, 90, of Chester, Virginia passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Chester.

Mary was born September 28, 1922, at Trenton, Arkansas, to the late Oldrich Kesl and the late Lillie Newman Kesl.

Mary served her country during World War II in Europe with the Army Nurse Corps in the U.S. Army.

She may be best remembered to residents of Phillips County as Mary Hayes, Dr. Oldham's nurse.

She is survived by two daughters, Anne Hayes of Pinehurst, North Carolina and Margaret Pope of Chester; two brothers, James Kesl and Vencil Kesl, both of West Helena, and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her first husband and the father of her children, James Hayes, and her second husband, Samuel H. Bussell.

A funeral service was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Helena, Arkansas with burial at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery
