When Alford Marion Berry was born on April 1, 1877, in Morgan, Alabama, his father, William, was 23 and his mother, Lizzie, was 19. He married Obera "Bera" Elliott on December 24, 1903, in Faulkner, Arkansas. They had five children in 11 years. He died on May 1, 1947, in Pulaski, Arkansas, at the age of 69, and was buried in Mayflower, Arkansas.
