OAKLEY, Margaret Celistia BRAME - Mrs. Margaret Celistia Oakley (nee Brame) was born at Green Hill, Bradford Co., Tenn. March 1st, 1846 and passed peacefully away at her home in Rogers, Ark. December 12, 1907. She was the daughter of Scott and Mary Brame. Her mother and two sisters, Mrs. R.L. Nance and Mrs. W.A.O. Jones, all of Rogers, survive her. Sister Oakley was soundly converted at the age of fifteen years and joined the Cumberland Presbyterian church, in which church she lived for nine years. February 27, 1870 on a beautiful Sunday morning, she was happily married to a stalwart young Christian man of her own community - D.A. Oakley - whom she made a devoted wife for twenty-nine years. The same year in which she was married, she with her husband and his father's family, moved to Arkansas and settled in Benton County, in what has been known as the Oakley's Chapel community. Here she with her husband joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, South and for thirty-seven years she has lived a devoted Christian life in this church. In 1883 the family moved to Rogers and she with her husband became members of Rogers station and here her children have been converted and brought into the church. She was the mother of seven children, five of whom are left to mourn their loss - Conductor Will Oakley of Monett; Mrs. Lula Sager of Harrison; Miss Anna Oakley, O.A.P. Oakley and Edgar Oakley of Rogers. At about 4:30 a.m. December 12th, 1907 she passed to her reward. A good woman is gone. The funeral was conducted by her pastor, J.F.E. Bates, at the Methodist Episcopal church, South December 13th and she was laid to rest in the family cemetery at Oakley's Chapel. May the Holy Ghost comfort the hearts of the sorrowing. J.F.E. Bates.

Mrs. D.A. Oakley, an old and respected citizen of Rogers, died there Dec. 12th. She was a sister to Mrs. R.L. Nance and Mrs. W.A.O. Jones of Rogers.
