When William Paul Patterson was born on January 31, 1899, in Arkansas, his father, William, was 37 and his mother, Tilitha, was 28. He married Ola Johnson on August 20, 1927, in Van Buren, Arkansas. They had two children during their marriage. He died on March 4, 1978, in his hometown at the age of 79, and was buried in Greenbrier, Arkansas.
