Daughter of Elizabeth Freeman of Warren County, TN; wife of (1) Robert Stanley James of Warren Co., TN (Jan 1840) and (2) Moses Ford of Illinois (buried at Love Cemetery,Crawford Co., AR); mother of 5 James children & 7 Ford children: Joseph R., James B., Lemuel W., Samuel S., Isaac H., Laura E. & Abagail Ford. Came to Crawford County, AR in 1842 with her husband Robert S. James and oldest daughter, Harriett Amanda James,born in 1841. Took out Civil War Claim after the war and obtained settlement which indicates she was a Union sympathizer. Took refuge in Van Buren Union camp during the war with her husband Moses after threatened by neighbors. Records show she married a third time to Thomas Mitchell Jan. 1, 1880. Nothing is known of him and she's buried at Alma Cemetery as Elizabeth A. Ford.
