When Ellan Tigert was born on July 10, 1898, in Titus, Texas, her father, James, was 39, and her mother, Millie, was 27. She married John L Nickles in Conway, Arkansas. They had four children during their marriage. She died on March 20, 1988, in Damascus, Arkansas, at the age of 89, and was buried in Greenbrier, Arkansas.
