Dr. William Caroll Dodd, Sr. 67, of Bald Knob died yesterday, April 3, in a local hospital. He was born at Portia on July 19, 1909 and he was the son of Clarence and Portia Williams Dodd. Dr. Dodd attended Bald Knob High School and graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Medicine in 1941.He did his residency at Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Dodd was a physician at Bald Knob, Arkansas for 30 years before retiring in 1976 at the age of 66. He opened his practice at Bald Knob in 1946 after serving in World War II. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Bald Knob United Methodist Church and a member of White County, Arkansas and American Medical Associations. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ruth Harrison Dodd, two sons, Jimmy and William Dodd, Jr. both of Bald Knob, a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Gipson of North Carolina, a stepson, James E. Hamilton of Little Rock, a step daughter, Mrs. Jean Steward of Bald Knob, a brother, Perry L. Dodd of Augusta, and five grandchildren. Funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy, Arkansas. Burial is a Shady Grove Cemetary in Searcy. Memorials were requested to the Arkansas Children's Hospital at Little Rock, Arkansas.
