Elsie was born in Brownsville Tennessee, January 6, 1921. While quite young, her family moved to Arkansas. While there she met her future husband, Luther, a friend of her brother Walter from Fort Smith who was also working in California. After the war, Elsie returned to Fort Smith where she worked at Weldon Williams and Lick. Elsie and Luther met again at this time, began dating and were married in October 1947.
