Purple Heart (wounded in Europe)
Garland Gano Harris, 98, of Alma, Arkansas passed away Friday; August 10, 2012 in a local hospital. He was a retired employee of the Alma Post Office and a member of the Alma First Baptist Church. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II and received a Purple Heart in Europe. His wife Mayme passed away in 1990 and he is survived by daughters Anita Cook of Van Buren, Arkansas; Ruth Welsh of Alma, Arkansas and Edna Charlene Fite of Van Buren; son Gano Harris Jr of Hideaway, Texas; sister Emma Rae Phillips of New Port Ritchey, Florida; 14 Grand children, 24 Great- Grandchildren and 2 Great- Great Grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Grandsons; Frank Ray Cook, John Cook, Mike Cook, Hank Cook, David Welsh, Kevin Welsh, Nathan Barnes and Joseph Barnes.
