Berniece J McNeal, 94, of Hope, Arkansas (formerly of Paris, Arkansas) died Sunday September 9, 2007. She was born May 30, 1913 in Ft Smith, Arkansas to Oscar Benjamin and Mary Leona Jewel Brickey. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Paris where she taught Sunday School of 40 years. She was a girl scout of 35 years and was the recipient of the Friendship Award. She initiated a fund drive to build a girl scout hut which was named the McNeal Hut in her honor. In 1983, she was the recipient of the Golden Harvest Award in Paris, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn O McNeal.
She is survived bysons, Glenn O McNeal of Arab, Alabama, Larry W McNeal of Waldo, Arkansas and David W McNeal of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; daughter Gayle Garner of Hope; sister Juanita Byrd of Corpus Christi, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
