J D Knight, Jr of Scranton, Arkansas passed away January 7, 2014 in Scranton. He was born January 26, 1933 in Prairie View, Arkansas to J D and Mary Lucille Rogers Knight, Sr. J D was a cattle farmer, a member of the Prairie View United Methodist Church, Tri-County water board, American Legion and a past member of the Lions Club of Scranton. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 65 Years Ann Knight;sons Joe Knight and Roger Knight both of Scranton, Arkansas; odaughter Sonia Eckelhoff and husband Will of Greenwood, Arkansas; sister Katsy Jones and husband Winfred of Prairie View, Arkansas; grandchildren Kristie Eckelhoff and Derek Eckelhoff and wife Katie; great-grandchild Henry Eckelhoff; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and frineds.
Pallbearers were Will Eckelhoff, Derek Eckelhoff, Kristie Eckelhoff, Ross Rogers, Tony Rogers and Dan Eckelhoff. Honorary Pallbearers were Donald Hixson, Dallas Johnson, David Rogers, Jerry Koerdt, Ahne's Coffee group and Tri-County Water Board Members.

Anna M “Ann” Knight, 84, a resident of Scranton, Arkansas passed away Monday, May 29, 2017, at the Johnson Regional Medical Center in Clarksville, Arkansas. She was born October 9, 1932 in Little Rock. Ann married J D Knight, Jr in 1958 and lived the remainder of her life in Scranton where they ran a cattle farm and raised three children. Survivors include sons Joe and Roger Knight, both of Scranton; daughter Sonia Eckelhoff and husband Will of Greenwood; grand- children Kristie Eckelhoff and Derek Eckelhoff and wife Katie; great grandson Henry Eckelhoff; sister-in-laws, Katsy Jones and husband, Winfred of Prairie View and Mae Koerdt of Scranton; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, J D Knight, Jr and brother, Edmond Koerdt.
Ann was a devoted wife and mother. She served the community of Scranton when her children were younger, organizing and managing the 4-H Youth Program. She was always ready to volunteer in the schools and community of Scranton. She was a good neighbor and friend to many. She was a member and past president of the Prairie View and Logan County Economic Homemakers Club. She was a member of the Orphan Train Riders Association and went to schools and organizations giving talks regarding the Orphan Train Riders. Her passion for this came from her mother, Rose, who came to Morrison Bluff on the Orphan Train from an orphanage in New York City. She was three years old and the Weisenfels family in Morrison Bluff gave Rose a loving home.
Ann was a member and secretary-treasurer for the Prairie View United Methodist Church for many years. Anyone that knew Ann knew she was a kind, sweet lady whose main goal in life was to make the world a better place for her family, friends and community.
