When William R Nelson was born on April 22, 1872, in Arkansas, his father, Walker, was 40 and his mother, Martha, was 36. He married Mary Amelia Ward on September 21, 1908, in Cleveland, Arkansas. They had three children during their marriage. He died on September 10, 1955, in Lincoln, Arkansas, at the age of 83.
