FAYETTEVILLE - Charles E. "Bud" Debes crossed the road March 12, 2011, with his family by his side at Fayetteville City Hospital.
Charles was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Newport, Ky., to Charles and Helen Debes.
After serving in the Army during World War II, Charles returned to Newport, Ky., where he met and married Frances Ruth Lacy. In 1963, he and Frances moved to Fayetteville with their five children, after being transferred with Baldwin Piano Co., where he worked until his retirement in 1984.
He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
His interests included ham radio, woodworking, reading and spending time with his family. He especially loved dining out and trying new restaurants.
Charles is survived by his wife, Frances Debes; three daughters, Kathi Williams and her husband, Kevin, of Hindsville, Ark, Susan Linnen and her husband, Robert, of Fayetteville, and Rebecca Ann Gatewood of Keystone, Iowa; two sons, Charles Arthur Debes and his wife, Lori, of Prairie Grove, and Michael Debes of Farmington, and his wife, Connie; six grandchildren, Alison Stanberry, Brian Linnen, Christen Debes, Erin Gatewood, Nathan Debes and Lacy Debes; one great-grandson, Bryson Linnen.
Charles was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was dearly loved by all those lives he touched and he will be forever missed.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville.
