AVOCA — Robert "Bob" Wayne Self, 68, of Avoca died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at his home. He was born April 1, 1944, in Cardin, Okla., to Archie Vester Self and Edith Mae Roberts Self.

He was a 1964 Pea Ridge High School graduate and played on the first Pea Ridge foothill team as a fullback. He was an Army veteran in Vietnam. He drove a truck for 10 years, was a sub-foreman at Emerson Electric for 23 years and drove a school bus for Rogers School District for five years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, canoeing, bowling, his grandkids and was a Baptist.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tonya Self; two brothers, Jimmy Rae Self, Bill Self; and one sister, Sharon Self.

Survivors are a son, Shawn Self and wife, Toby, of Rogers; a daughter, Brandy Nash and husband, David, of Rogers; an adopted son, Chris Balster of Tallahassee, Fla.; a brother, Ronnie Self and wife, Wanda, of Seligman, Mo.; a sister. Shirley Kern of Joplin, Mo.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Bayless Cemetery in Garfield, with Chaplain John Pate officiating. Full military honors will be by Bella Vista Honor Guard Post 9063.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 30, at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Pea Ridge.

Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.
