Emma “Irene” Daniels Mathews, 84 of El Dorado, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House.
Irene was born September 21, 1931, in Floyd County, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Andrew H. Hefner and Sallie Baker Hefner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Billy T. Daniels, Sr., and Richard Mathews; sons, Larry Joe Daniels and David Lee Daniels; step-son, Scott Mathews; and sister, Fannie Lee Wendt.
Survivors include her son, Billy T. Daniels, Jr.; step-son, Joseph Mathews; step-daughter, Pam Daniels; sisters, Earlene Loy all of El Dorado, and Sallie Lucille Sparks of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Patrick Daniels Temple, Mike Daniels (Dana), Billy Wayne Daniels, Matt Daniels, and Nick Daniels (Briane); and great-grandchildren, Chris, Kaylee, Austin, and Liam Daniels.
Irene was a member of Calion Baptist Church of Calion, AR, where her father once pastored. She was a retired registered nurse with a specialty in surgical nursing at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado, AR and she was a member of the Arkansas Nursing Association. Irene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a caregiver in retirement to her family members.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm. Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Young’s Chapel with Rev. Bob Inmon officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. until service time. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Young’s Funeral Directors.
