When Ulysses Troy Mitchell was born on January 26, 1924, in Arkansas, his father, William, was 29 and his mother, Ollie, was 28. He married Gladys Virginia Thigpen on August 17, 1945, in Saline, Arkansas. They had two children during their marriage. He died on January 30, 2013, at the age of 89, and was buried in De Witt, Arkansas.
