Norryce Byers Eldridge, age 88, of Stuttgart, went home to be with her Savior on Monday, Feb. 7, 2005. She spent her life a loving, caring, and happy person and was "Nannie" to many people.
During her life, she was a homemaker, a charter member of Lodge's Corner United Methodist Church -- where she served as a Sunday School teacher and nursery keeper for many years, a member of United Methodist Women, the New Providence Turley Extension Homemakers Club, a 50-year member of Eastern Star, Arkansas Post Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Green Thumb Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Cleveland and Jessie Cummings Byers; a brother, Clio Simpson; a sister, Nora Simpson Gillcoatt and her son Benny Park Eldridge Sr.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, E.D. "Shorty" Eldridge; a son and a daughter-in-law, Dan and Patty Eldridge; grandchildren Becky and Steve Schexnayder of Little Rock, Bob and Jill Bisswanger of Ethel, Bart and Laney Eldridge of Stuttgart, Park Eldridge and Michelle Eldridge of DeWitt; great-grandchildren Allie, Daniel, Anne, and Amy Schexnayder, Jamie, Jessie, Sammi Jo, Rachel, and Bud Bisswanger, and Lane and Gage Eldridge; a very special niece, Marilyn Braswell of DeWitt; two brothers, A.C. Byers of Bloomington, Calif., and J.W. "Bill" Byers of Hunter; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family requests that memorials be made to Lodge's Corner United Methodist Church or to First United Methodist Church, DeWitt.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Lodge's Corner United Methodist Church with burial at Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens by Essex Funeral Home, DeWitt. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
