August 28, 1876 - May 18, 1965
Mrs. Fannie Lindsey Chambers, 88, died in a local nursing home Tuesday morning after a protracted illness. Mrs. Chambers was born Aug. 28, 1876, in Pine Bluff, the daughter of Capt. John Martin sand Mrs. Mary Etta Bocage Smith. She had lived in El Dorado since 1952, making her home with her daughters, Mrs. E. B. Garrett, Sr., 123 Glenridge Drive, in recent years. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Episcopal Church and an honorary member of Capt. Robert Minor Wallace chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Survivors include four sons, Carlton Lee Chambers of Strong, James M. Chambers of El Dorado, S. Randolph Chambers of Fort Worth, Tex., and Joseph C. Chambers of Albany, N.Y.; three daughters, Mrs. Garrett of El Dorado, Mrs. Fanchon C. Edgar of San Angelo, Tex. and Mrs. Gladys C. Fassold of Pittsburgh, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She leaves also several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Ralph Williams of El Dorado and Mrs. W. I. Walton of Arkadelphia. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church with the Rev. J. Rayford McLean officiating. Burial under the direction of Rumph Mortuary, will be in Arlington Cemetery. Grandsons of Mrs. Chambers will be pallbearers. (The El Dorado Times - May 18, 1965)
