Della Harris Dillion departed this life on December 28, 2010. She was born December 21, 1911 in Rector, Ark. to parents, James Walter and Minnie Bell Harris. She was one of ten children, three of whom died at early ages.
She married Orbie Dillion, September 6, 1928 and they shared a life together for 60 years. Her work life included a waitressing at a Greek owned Court Square restaurant, Graves Rexall Drugstore, the Ben Franklin Store and finally running the family business, Dillion's Locker Plant until 1994 retiring at the age of 84.
She was a member of the Forks of LaGrue Missionary Baptist Church for over 70 years serving as Church Clerk, Secretary, Treasurer and Sunday School Teacher. She was a devoted and faithful Christian and loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two children, Dale Russell Dillion and Wanda Jewel Jackson; eight brothers, Columbus, Dock, Allen, Henry, Jackie Monroe, Frankie and Walter; one sister, Anne; one grandson, Dimis Morales; and two sons-in-law, Harold Cotner and Louis Cunningham. She is survived by her daughter, Alma Jean Cunningham of DeWitt; her brother, Wilbur Harris of DeWitt; son-in-law, J.W. Jackson of Olive Branch, Miss.; seven grandsons, Rickey Dillion and wife Pauline of Benicia, Calif.; Lyle Wayne Cunningham and wife Diann of DeWitt; Donnie Cotner and wife Nancy of Southaven, Miss.; Ronnie Cotner and wife, Debbie of Horn Lake, Miss.; Rusty Dillion of DeWitt; Greg Cunningham of Little Rock; and Joe Jackson of Plantersville, Miss.; nine great-grandchildren, Travis Dillion and wife, Elizabeth, of Benicia, Calif.; Dana Williams of Little Rock; Chris Cunningham of DeWitt; Mandy Bolton and husband Bob of Olive Branch, Miss.; Eric Cunningham and wife, Sabrina of DeWitt, Cody Cotner of Horn Lake, Miss.; Jake Cotner of Horn Lake, Miss.; Sarah Word of Southaven, Miss.; and Jesse Cotner of Southaven, Miss.; five great-great-grandchildren, Kristia Williams of Little Rock, Skylar, Sydney and Devin Bolton of Olive Branch, Miss. and Adyn Cunningham of DeWitt as well as many more nieces, nephews and loved ones.
Memorials can be made to the Forks of LaGrue Missionary Baptist Church, c/o Teresa Ann Coley, 180 Allen Watkins Lane, DeWitt, Ark. 72042. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 31, 2010 at Forks LaGrue Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens by Essex Funeral Home of DeWitt.
