When Clarence Lee Sanders was born on September 16, 1912, in Tuskahoma, Oklahoma, his father, John, was 28 and his mother, Bertha, was 20. He married Zula Mae Johnson on February 1, 1933, in Antlers, Oklahoma. They had two children during their marriage. He died on April 15, 1992, in Conway, Arkansas, at the age of 79, and was buried there.
