Mary E. ''Beth'' (Burnett) Hartwick, 67, of Pleasant Valley, went to heaven on Friday, November 9, 2018. She was born July 25, 1951 to the late Charles Louis and Mary Agnes ''Honey'' (Setzler) Burnett and lived her life in the same community where she was born. Beth graduated from Greenbrier High School and University of Central Arkansas where she earned a Master's Degree in Library Science. She was a pillar of her family, member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and loved dearly by all who knew her including the nurses who cared for her during a long hospital stay. She leaves behind a loving husband of 49 years, Jerry Hartwick, two sons, Brad Hartwick (Audra) and Cody Hartwick (Penny); and a daughter, Brooke Worden (Dusty) as well as six grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Justin, Lora and Ally Hartwick and Sarah and Wes Worden; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert L. Burnett and her parents.

Beth was the Sr. High Library Media Specialist at Greenbrier High School when she retired after 35 years. During those years she took the library from card catalog to the computer era and worked hard to get her students whatever topics they requested even if she had to get them from another library or her private collection. She started the accelerated reader program in hopes that all her students would read more than 1 or 2 books through their high school days. As an extra incentive she would get local dealerships to donate a vehicle to be given away each year from a drawing where students could enter their names by the amount of books they read. Beth also started a work internship program which allowed students to work part time in a job of their choice. She always believed that people should work in a career that they loved just as she did, and strive to reach their fullest potential. She served as senior class sponsor for 15 years and in 2011, the year she retired, she was chosen to be the alumni speaker at graduation.

Granny Beth was happiest when she shared experiences with her grandchildren ranging in age from kindergarten to college. She always attended their events and praised their accomplishments, she loved shopping trips and traveling with her friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 11th at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 12th at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Brother Virgil Porter and Brother Freddie Mark Wilcox officiating. Interment to follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Hunter Burnett, Sam Burnett, Tommy Burnett, Bart Hartwick, Luke Setzler and Wade Wiedower serving as pallbearers.
