When William Ervin "Snookie" Jones was born on November 12, 1917, in Bigelow, Arkansas, his father, W, was 24 and his mother, Myrtle, was 26. He married Mary Melvina Johnson in 1939 in Perryville, Arkansas. They had four children during their marriage. He died on February 6, 1964, in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 46, and was buried in Perry, Arkansas.

Mary Melvina (Jones) Johnson, age 88, of Perryville, passed away Monday, December 9, 2013. She was born June 11, 1925 near Des Arc, Arkansas, a daughter of D.M. Johnson and Elsie Arizona "Sampley" Johnson. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by a son, W.E. "Willie" Jones III and wife Loretta of Perryville; three daughters, Catherine Sue Vaught of Magazine, Margie Ann Jones Hatfield Bodily of Magazine, Mary Jane Hutchinson and husband Bill of Morrilton; four brothers, Richard Johnson of Perryville, Jimmie Johnson (Mary) of Aplin, Johnny Johnson (Frankie) of Houston, David Johnson (Sue) of Paris, Arkansas; a sister, Doris Hill (Joe) of Perryville; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 12, at Perryville Church of Christ with Mr. Charles Smith and Mr. Jason Almond officiating. Burial will be at May Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Perryville. The family will receive friends 4:00-6:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the Perryville Funeral Home.
