Warren - J. S. Creed, 81, of Hermitage died Wednesday in a Warren hospital. He had been in the retail hardware business for 48 years, and served as city treasurer in Hermitage for many years. He was a member of the W.O.W. He was a member of the Hermitage Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, Sunday School superintendent, teacher, and choir leader. He was also a member and president of the Hermitage school board, and a member of the City Council. He is survived by two sons, Harold Creed of Warren and Travis Pete Creed of Pine Bluff; one daughter, Mrs. James Cuthbertson of Warren; one brother, W. F. Creed of Hermitage; and one sister, Mrs. J. O. Gammill of El Dorado; eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Hermitage Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Meggs officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Cemetery of Hermitage. Services will be under the direction of Frazier's Funeral Home of Warren. (El Dorado Times - January 6, 1966)

Mr. Creed was a retail hardware merchant for over 48 years and served several years as city treasurer. He was a member of W.O.W.; a member and deacon of the Hermitage Baptist Church where he also taught a Sunday School Class and served as choir director. He was also a former president of the school board of Hermitage. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. James Cuthbertson of Warren; another son, Harold Creed of Warren, one sister, Mrs. J. O. Gammill of El Dorado; one brother, W. F. Creed of Hermitage; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 in the Hermitage Baptist Church with burial in Holly Springs Cemetery at Hermitage. Frazer Funeral Home of Warren is in charge of arrangements.
