GREEN, Mary Ellen BUCKLE - Mrs. Mary Ellen (Buckle) Green was born in Newton County, Missouri August 14, 1897 and departed this life January 1, 1929 at 4:20 p.m. at the age of 31 years. She moved to this country with her parents about 20 years ago and was married to Vernon Green February 7, 1915 and to this union were born four children, one son, Pierce, aged 13, Weanetta and Jeanetta, aged 10 and Georgia Belle, aged 8. Her husband died April 26, 1923 leaving her to battle the storms of life as best she could with her small children and her pathway has been rough and rugged. She never complained in the least and has always found a way through with what help her father and mother could give her as she has made her home with them since her husband's death. She united with the Church of Christ at Corinth in August 1925. She lived faithful in her service until the death angel came and claimed her on New Year's evening and during her sickness she would clap her hands and shout that it would be the happiest day of her life. Mary was of a very happy disposition, always greeted her friends with a smile and a jolly exclamation, to know her was to love her. Although her heart was sad she always wore a smile. Besides her children she leaves a father, mother and three sisters: Mrs. Flora Doke, Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Opal Hudson, Sperry Okla. and Mrs. Gertrude Warren, Tillamook, Ore. and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Her body was held in state at the home until Sunday afternoon, Jan. 6, waiting the arrival of her sisters. Funeral services were held at Twelve Corners, conducted by Rev. Martin of Rogers, after which she was laid to rest in the Twelve Corners cemetery to await the resurrection morning. E.E. Ricketts conducted the beautiful song service.
