Essie Marie (Eaton) Sellers wife of Herbert Elbert Sellers. Essie Marie (Eaton) Sellers daughter of Benjamin Harrison Eaton and Lura Thena (Wells) Eaton.

Essie Marie Eaton Sellers, 99, of Imboden, died Jan. 4, 2017, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 31, 1917, in Randolph County, she was the daughter of B.H. "Harry" and Lura Thena Wells Eaton. She was a teacher for 35 years. She began teaching in a one-room schoolhouse when she was 20 years old. She taught at Wyatt, Ravenden and Williford before ending her career at Sloan-Hendrix in Imboden in 1980. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Republican party and was a Sunday school teacher at the Ravenden Church of Christ for over 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Sellers, whom she married Aug. 16, 1937; a son, Ray Sellers; four sisters, Bama Nabors, Maydean Blankenhorn, Wilma English and Georgia Stephens; an infant brother; and a granddaughter, Eva Marie Sellers.

Survivors include a daughter, Thena Sellers, Imboden; a sister, Bennie Campbell, Lakeland, Tenn.; a grandson, Barry Sellers; a great-granddaughter; and a great-great-grandson.

Funeral was Friday at 2 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home. Burial was in Hope Cemetery at Imboden.

Memorials may be made to The Children's Home in Paragould.
